Harvest

The Most Nerve-racking Time of the Year

With all the mobile weather apps on constant refresh, this is the most crucial part of the year.

Keeping a careful eye out for a dry period (wet picks are nobody’s idea of fun) whilst checking there are no imminent frost risks, we leave the grapes to hang as long as possible to soak up what little rays the sun has to offer at the end of the season.

Our North facing slopes mean we have a long growing season, often one of the last vineyards to be picking (November 5th was our record!). This long season gives the grapes time to ripen gradually, soaking up sunlight and nutrients to create the signature Tickerage taste.

Weather watching becomes a full time occupation.

Always exhausting, both mentally and physically, when it comes together it is the most joyous of times - friends, family and our faithful contractors (with us since 2009) bringing in the harvest.

Once in the vines slowly absorb the nutrients back into their roots and prepare for the winter ahead.
